"Liverpool Linux User Group are a group of Linux and open source
software users that meet on the first Wednesday of the month. If no
talk is organised then we will usually organise a “open stage” for
people to discuss projects, current news, or just to rant.

Main Talk
At the moment LLUG have a choice of talks to present at this months meeting, but we'll be confirming the details very soon.

Open Stage

  • Simon Johnson will be doing a quick talk about high level Python.
  • Andrew Williams will explain one of his latest projects and why Android development is great for newbies.

We will meet up in “The Old Ropewalk” pub before the meeting, then
head out to the event around 7:00pm. The Liverpool Social Centre is two
doors up from Forbidden Planet and is the right-hand door at the front
of “News From Nowhere”. Check the window for a handy Liverpool LUG
sign, which will indicate we are there and not still at the pub. Press
the white doorbell for access (the one marked basement) and someone
will come up and open the door for you.

After the talks we will usually stay in the meeting area for a while then head out back to The Old Ropewalk pub."

"Described
by one commentator as the best thing they'd ever seen in a gallery,
Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore is an extended paean to the unadulterated
bliss of nocturnal abandon. A documentary of sorts, Leckey's video
chronicles the rites of passage experienced by successive generations
of British (sub)urban youth".

INTERMEDIA-28

Wade Matthews (digital synthesis, field recordings),
Julio Camarena (prepared electro-acoustic guitar),
Adam Lubroth (projected images)

INTERMEDIA-28 is a trio of artists living in Madrid, Spain, who are committed to
collective creation in real time. They employ photography, video,
electronic, electro-acoustic and acoustic music, field recordings, and
objects to create works that change with every performance. Their
latest piece, Pedroñeras, is a feast of sounds, colors, images, voices
and music in constant evolution—a grand collage of sensations and
noises, memories and surprises filled with the heat of July in La
Mancha and the voices and faces of its anonymous protagonists.

“In July of 2007, Spanish photographer Adam Lubroth and composer/improviser
and electro-acoustician Wade Mathews travelled to the town of Las
Pedroneras in the Spanish province of Cuenca to sonically and visually
document the most important moment of the year for the Garlic Capital
of Spain: the purple garlic harvest.

"There they captured the voices and images of farmers, factory workers,
villagers, and immigrant labourers from Rumania and North Africa, as
well as the sounds and
colours of the harvest and of daily life in the village. With the
participation of improvising guitarist and architect, Julio Camarena,
son of the renowned folklorist of the same name, they began to make
Pedroneras, an interpretation that goes beyond a simple portrait of
this tradition.”
